If you have never experienced an asthma attack you could not know the horror of not being able to breathe. But even if the attack is not as severe as that it still means considerable discomfort for the sufferer, by way of tightness of the chest, wheezing and coughing. Especially the night time coughs can be devastating and very disruptive to sleep. Also there can be mucus present in the airways, that irritates and is difficult to get rid of. One asthma sufferer that I knew at school ended up suffocating to death in an asthma attack. He was only 16.
